Problem

Riad Queenie began as a structurally compromised property—an aging former hotel whose foundation and internal framework had deteriorated beyond surface-level repair. What remained was not simply outdated, but unstable: a fragmented layout, weakened infrastructure, and a lack of spatial coherence that rendered the riad uninhabitable in its current state.

Beyond the structural concerns, the challenge extended into preservation. The riad carried historical and cultural weight, yet its original character had been diluted over time. The project required a complete rethinking of the space—one that could honor its architectural lineage while rebuilding it into something functional, safe, and relevant for contemporary living.

Solution

We approached the project as both a reconstruction and a reinterpretation. The riad was taken down to its core, allowing us to rebuild a structurally sound foundation while reimagining the internal layout with clarity and intention. Circulation was refined, proportions were corrected, and each spatial decision was made to restore balance and flow.

From a design perspective, we introduced a modern architectural language layered carefully against the riad’s traditional framework. Art Deco influences were subtly woven into the design—through geometry, contrast, and materiality—while a restrained palette of beige, black, and various shades of green allowed the space to feel grounded, cohesive, and quietly luxurious.

Outcome

The result is a fully transformed riad that feels both rooted and renewed—a space that respects its past while operating effortlessly in the present. What was once fragmented and unstable is now composed, livable, and immersive.
